Our Nursery pupils wore their bright clothes in celebration of World Autism Acceptance Week. Our pupils recognise that we all learn differently and have great fun learning together. π
A huge thank you to our student teachers from St. Mary’s University College, Belfast; Mrs Ruth Chestnutt, Miss Grainne Carville and Miss Ciara Madden who completed their School Experience in St. Columba’s today. We thank them for all their time, effort and dedication that they have given to providing our pupils with high quality teaching and learning during their time with us. We wish each of them the very best of luck! π
A huge thank you to everyone who walked, cycled and scooted to school during the past two weeks as we participated in the Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel! The children came to school each morning with a glow on their cheeks and a smile on their faces. The reduction of cars outside the school was also very noticeable. We encourage everyone to keep up the active travelling when you can! π²π΄

Year 7 pupils performed a special assembly today in preparation for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday. We would like to thank Fr McDermott for his presence this afternoon.ποΈππ»
The boys and girls from Year 5 met with their Shared Education partners to find out about how to stay safe at home and on the road. A big thank you to our local firefighters Sinead and Simon for their informative talk about fire safety in our homes.
Congratulations to the Year 4 children who received the Sacrament of First Penance this morning. We are extremely thankful to Fr McDermott and Fr Varghese for their spiritual guidance during this morning’s service and to Mrs McGuckin and Miss Carville who prepared the children so well to receive this special sacrament. ππ»
Well done to the pupils from Year 6 and 7 who represented St Columba's in the South Derry Cross Country Championships today at St Patrick's College, Maghera Playing Fields. Congratulations to the girls team who placed 3rd in the Large Schools race.
