Julie from HSENI visited St. Columba's to present 'Farm Safety' talks to all key stages.  The interactive presentation encouraged all pupils to stay safe on the farm.  Julie helped us to understand that a farm is a working environment and that machines, animals and chemicals found on the farm pose dangers.  A massive thank you to Julie for such an important and informative presentation. #staysafeonthefarm 🐷🐮🐑🚜

 👩🏼‍🍳📆📏 Measure Mayhem in Year 3! 📏📆👨🏻‍🍳

There was 'measure mayhem' in Year 3 as we celebrated 'Maths Week'! As a school, we were focusing on the area of measure and everyone had the opportunity to choose a task to carry out at home in order to get our entire school community involved! A popular task in our class involved carrying out lots of measuring in the kitchen. We were even lucky enough to have the chance to taste many of our homebaked delights in the classroom. Thank you to everyone who took part!

📖🎉🎈Celebrating Roald Dahl Day!🎈🎉📖

We had great fun celebrating Roald Dahl Day on Tuesday 13th September! This years celebration was very special as it marked Roald Dahl's 100th Birthday! 🎂🎈 Our day began by watching a short extract from the BFG Film before recording the dreams we would like to have inside our 'dream jars'. Our dream jars were then put on display in our classroom.  Before bringing our celebrations to a close, we carried out lots of Roald Dahl mental maths activities on our whiteboards! Everyone had a fantastic day! 📖✨

Budding Artists In Year 3

Year 3 painted beautiful self portraits as part of our topic 'Ourselves'! 🖌🎨

🌎📚📝International Literacy Day📝📚🌎

Year 3 and Year 3/4 discussed school life in developing countries, with a particular focus on Jamaica. We found out that their schools were not as well equipped as ours and that many children had to walk several miles to and from school every day just to learn to read and write! We walked around our MUGA 10 times which was the equivalent to almost one mile and many of us were exhausted by the time we reached 'school' after lap 10! 🏃🏼 Afterwards, we learned some Jamaican words and phrases and recorded the similarities and differences between their pronounciation and ours. 🇯🇲🌎

We Enjoyed Our First Day in Year 3!
