As part of NI Apprenticeship Week the children from Year 6 and 7 took part in The Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Energy Innovation Challenge. The children were tasked with exploring and designing ideas that could improve lives within our community. 🎉We are delighted to announce that Sophia from Year 6 was chosen as the overall winner. 🎉Today, the Mayor, Richard Holmes, paid a visit to the school to present Sophia with her prize: a fabulous 3D Printer for the school! Rachel, Devin, Jack, Lucia, Niamh and Lucy from Year 6 and Holly from Year 7 were also awarded certificates for superb ideas.
During Fairtrade Fortnight, pupils in St. Columba’s explored this year’s theme, ‘Choose the World you Want’, through a variety of activities. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown us more than ever how interconnected we are globally. Everyone has a vital role to play in supporting the farmers and workers who are responsible for bringing us many of our everyday products.
Congratulations to all the children who were awarded ‘Pupil of the Week’.
We celebrated World Book Day today in style in St. Columba’s. Everyone came to school dressed in their pyjamas and brought their favourite bedtime story. We were really impressed by all the photographs on display of ‘extreme reading’ carried out by our pupils ahead of today. Thank you to Miss Rafferty who organised our celebrations.
