Nursery

Welcome to Nursery. Our teacher is Mrs McCormick and our classroom assistants are Mrs McCloskey and Mrs Dowds. Everyone is looking forward to a wonderful year in 2019.

Nursery 2019.

There are 30 pupils in Nursery. Have a look and see how happy we are in our classroom. 

Article 28 states every child is entitled to an education. 

Play begins........

Table Top Activities. 

We are developing our fine motor control through a variety of activities- threading, sorting using pincers, building......

We are learning Nursery Rhymes everyday. Rhymes are very important. They help us with our language development.

Every day we have Outdoor Play. Exercise is very important for our bodies and our thinking brains!! We love to play outdoors. 

Article 31 Every child has the right to relax and play. 

New friends .... we love to play together.

Thursday 26th September was World Day of European Languages. We were so lucky in Nursery to have experience of five different languages - Portuguese, French, Spanish, German and Polish.  

Article 17 states that each child has the right to information from a variety of sources.

Thank you to Henry's mummy who gave us a little taste of Portuguese. She showed us the map of Portugal, it's flag and we said a poem together.

We read the story "Dora Starts School". There were lots of Spanish words. 

Mrs Lavery helped us to count to 5 in German while we drank our milk!! ☺️

Gerard's mummy told us the different colours in French. We also counted to 5, and we said a poem.

We experienced the Polish language with Marlena - colour, number 1-5 and the Polish flag. Marlena is very kind and volunteers in the Nursery every day.

Our first Friday in Socktober was great fun!! Look at all our colourful socks!! 

Thankyou Mrs Dowds. 🌺🌺 Our classroom assistant Mrs Dowds is now off on maternity. Thank you for helping us to settle in September. Enjoy your time off and visit us soon. 

September Fun. 

Yoga.

We have yoga on Thursday. It helps us to focus and listen. Yoga helps us to stretch our muscles and relax too. It is great fun. 

 

World Mental Health Day Thursday 10th October. 

Outdoor Play involves using our imagination. Look!! 

Article 29 states that Education must develop every child's personality, talents and abilities to the full.

Jack receives our first Nursery Award for being a very happy boy. Well done Jack. 

🕸🕸Halloween Creations.🕸🕸

Coding Week.

We experienced following directions using the beebots to move forward, backwards, and to turn.

🕷🕸🕸Spooky Halloween Characters came to visit our Nursery today!! 🕸🕸🕷

Well done Aoife!! Aoife received our Nursery Award for outstanding behaviour. Excellent Aoife. We are so proud of you. 👏🏻👏🏻

🎃🎃Carving our Pumpkin.🎃🎃

We used our senses to examine the pumpkin, it's flesh and seeds. We carved it into a Jack O Lantern. Look!!🎃🎃

Article 13 states that every child has the right to find out things and share what they think with others. 
Congratulations to our 8 pupils who received certificates for 100% attendance in the first half term. Let's keep up the great attendance. 

🎃🎃October Displays🎃🎃

Thank you to John Francis and his mummy who enjoyed a session of "stay and play " today 5th November. 

Dominoes teaches us about colour, pattern, shape and turn taking!! 

Cate’s mummy came to Stay and Play. They had a great morning together. 

Well done Charlie!! Charlie received our Sportsmanship Award in Nursery. 
Thank you to Oliver's mummy Monica who joined him for Stay and Play. She had two great mornings with Oliver. 😀

Congratulations Joseph. 

Thank you to all the parents and pupils who donated a Christmas Shoebox to our annual shoebox appeal. It is wonderful to support those less fortunate in the world.

Pattern Making.

We are excellent at making different patterns in Nursery.  

Grandparents Day.

What a marvellous day in Nursery. Lots of grandparents were able to visit and play. They also had a cup of tea. 

Aodhan’s mummy Shauna came to help us make St. Brigid’s Crosses. Everyone had a cross to take home. Thank you Shauna. 

Mrs Lavery planted peas and beans with us. We are preparing to watch them grow as Spring approaches. 🌱🌱

Our peas are growing really well. We have looked after them and given them water, heat and love.

People Who Help Us.

Thank you to Maria’s mummy Dr O’Mullan. She came to Nursery to tell us all about her job. She gave us some pieces for our doctors surgery. 

Thank you to Joseph’s daddy Ciaran. He is a vet and he told us all about his job. It was a very exciting morning. Joseph helped him to put on his “big” gloves. 

🍏🍐🍊Aine’s daddy Dominic is a chef. He came into Nursery and made very healthy fruit cups with us. We can name lots of fruit. We tasted new fruit too.🍓🍎🍌

📚Ann the local librarian from Kilrea Library came to tell us all about her job. She kindly read us a book. It was great fun. 📚

Tony our Lollipop Man is Connor’s grandad. He came into Nursery to tell us what he does outside our school every day. He showed us his uniform and lollipop stick. 

Thank you Aidan. Tomas’s daddy is a physiotherapist. He told us all about his job helping people to look after their bodies. We learned lots of information. Tomas was a great help. 

👩🏼‍⚕️Louise is a Nurse. She is also Joseph’s mummy. Louise came to tell us all about her job. She gave us resources for our hospital too. Thank you Louise.

🥞🥞Mrs McCloskey made pancakes with us. We used lots of mathematical language. They were delicious. We chose our own toppings. 🥞🥞

The boys and girls have been working so hard with their pencil control activities. Look! 

🎈🎈Thank you to the parents of our PTA who joined us for Green Day. We had tattoos, balloon modelling and music. It was a wonderful morning. 🎈🎈

We love model making in Nursery. We made a Rocket and there were lots of crew ready to board it each day!! 

Home Learning.

Minibeasts

🐌🐞🕷Our topic for May is Minibeasts. We have been hunting for them around our homes. We have been listening to stories read by our teacher and completing a variety of creative work to go along with them. It is great fun. 🐛🦋🐝

Our Spring Walk. 

In Term 3 Nursery always have their Spring Walk in the garden. They search for the colours of Spring. This year instead the children completed their Spring Walk at home. Look at the beautiful collection of colours. 🌸🌼
