Christmas Capers
Paula Elder from Quavers and Crochets came to our Nursery and introduced us to different musical instruments. We sang lots of Christmas songs. We dressed up and had great fun.

Our St. Brigids Day Crosses
Pancake Tuesday was great fun!! Mrs McCloskey made delicious pancakes for everyone. We ate them at snack time. They were very healthy; and we wanted more!!!!

World Maths Day was a great success. The Nursery parents were very impressed. We linked the topic of Growth in Spring to number, colour, shape and measure. Thank you to all the parents who took part in our "Stay and Play" morning.
World Book Day
The pupils in our Nursery wore their pyjamas and brought their favourite story book with them. They had breakfast with everyone in the school assembly hall and read their story. They made zigzag books and you can find them displayed in our Nursery foyer.

In our Nursery we have been learning about Growth. We have made a number of beautiful displays, including "Mrs Honey's Hat."
Our parents continue to enjoy visiting the Nursery at the end of each month to see the children's beautiful displays.
Busy,busy!
Potato and Leek Soup
Mrs McCloskey and Nursery made tasty soup today. We are learning about healthy and unhealthy food in our topic this term. It is great fun. We cooked the soup using lots of healthy ingredients! Ask your child about the delicious soup we had for snack today!
Our healthy food included making homous with Mrs Lavery. Everyone enjoyed squashing the chick peas. We all tasted the homous on crackers.
Thursday was a beautiful sunny day. We took our yoga music outside and had a relaxing yoga class in the sun.
Our Teddy Bears Picnic
On Friday 22nd April we had a Teddy Bears Picnic. The children made their own sandwiches and rice crispie buns as a treat!! It was a beautiful day. Everyone had their favourite teddy bear at the picnic. Mrs Kielt got an invitation and she was very pleased to come and have a cup of tea and a bun.
About Colour
We know our colours in Nursery. We have been using iPads in our play to reinforce our knowledge of colour. We also completed lots of practical colour activities. We read Elmer the Elephant. He is a very "colourful" character!!!
May Minibeast Capers
On the 2nd of June Nursery transformed the assembly hall into a garden wilderness!!!🐝 All the minibeasts came alive and told a beautiful story to all the children in the school.🐛 There were butterflies, ladybirds, wiggly worms, spiders, caterpillars and bumble bees!!!🐞 Lots of parents and grandparents came. 🐌There were even a few aunties !! 🕷Mrs Kielt was delighted to hear so many lovely poems and songs.🐜 Everyone looked magical.🌟
Nursery made musical shakers for the music tree in our garden.🌳 We recycled lots of junk from our recycling junk box.♻️We used dry pasta and sparkly glitter. ✨We hung the instruments on the tree.🍃 We listened to the sounds they made as the wind blew through the leaves and branches. 🌬

🏆🏅Action Cancer Health Action Awards🏅🏆
St Columba's Nursery were awarded their fifth Gold Award for promoting healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle for the children. Mrs McCormick and two pupils from Nursery, Piaras Bradley and Lucia McBride attended the Award Ceremony in Lisburn in June. It was an excellent opportunity for the children to discover more about healthy living.⛹🏻 They were able to learn about how to keep their bodies fit and healthy.🍏They also met TV presenter Claire McCollum who presented them with their gold award. The Nursery was also awarded the highest scoring Nursery in the North Eastern Board and given a cheque for £250.00. Well done to everyone who helps to keep our Nursery a healthy one!👍🏻
Aimee from Action Cancer came to talk to the Nursery about how Mambo and Jazz, the Health Action Heros can help us lead a healthy lifestyle.
Kaci displays her talent for gymnastics at the school Talent Show on Friday 24th June. Not only could Kaci complete cartwheels using two hands, she could use one hand!!👏🏻

🎗Our Nursery Graduation🎗
Our Nursery Graduation took place on Friday 24th June. The children were delighted to receive their certificates from Miss McKiernan. Mrs Kielt thanked the parents for their continued support throughout the year, and wished the children all the best for Year 1 in whatever school they would be attending. Mrs McCormick and Mrs McCloskey were very proud of all the achievements of the Nursery and were so pleased.📝
