Shared Education 

We had lots of fun visiting our friends from Kilrea Primary School. We completed lots of fun activities on ‘The Gruffalo’ together and went on a Gruffalo Hunt in our Woodland Area! 😁🐻

📚World Book Day! 📚

We all wore our pyjamas to school to celebrate World Book Day today and relaxed with our favourite books! We love reading in Year 1/2 - look how busy we were! Article 31 states ‘Every child has the right to relax and play.’ 📚

Our visit to the Post Office! 

Our new topic is the Post Office. We have been learning all about the journey of a letter and  the role of a postman/postwoman. We worked very hard writing a letter to our parents, so we took the journey to the Post Office to buy a stamp and post our letters! Our parents will love getting some post delivered to their house! We even got to chat to the Postman all about his job along the way! 📬✉️📮

Food Glorious Food! 

We love learning about different types of food and trying out new things! We made healthy fruit smoothies, decorated our Gingerbread men and enjoyed some hot chocolate and marshmallows in our outdoor learning area! 🍇🍉☕️🍪

Christmas is an exciting time in Year 1/2!! Article 14 states ‘Every child has the right to explore beliefs, religions and traditions.’ 🎅🏼🤶🏼🎄❄️

📽Cinema Trip 📽

We travelled to Maghera cinema on Friday to watch ‘Nativity Rocks!’ We really enjoyed the film, especially in the relaxing chairs! Article 31 states  ‘ Every child has the right to relax.’

Today to celebrate the Pearse’s 75th Anniversary, we had a special ‘Kilrea Day.’ We all wore red and white. We all took part in GAA sports this afternoon and showed off our sporting talents. We played camogie, hurling and football. We have a lot of sporting stars in Year One and Two! Just look at what they can do! 🏐🇧🇭 

⚠️Intruder Alert! ⚠️

When we came into school, you will never believe what we saw! There were mucky footprints, a broken chair, a broken bowl and porridge all over the floor! Goldilocks had been in St. Columba’s! We had to work out where the footprints came from, why she broke the chair and we followed her footprints where we found part of her dress!! Goldilocks was very naughty - we hope she isn’t playing tricks around Kilrea! Article 31 states ‘Every child has the right to take part in a wide range of artistic and fun activities.’

Ditch the Dark Day!

We all looked fantastic on Friday wearing our bright colours for 'Ditch the Dark Day!' So many of Year 1/2 are now walking all or part of their journey to school! Article 3 states ‘the safety and best interests of each child is a top priority.’ 

We had lots of fun during EU Code Week! We explored coding through the app 'Kodable.' We entered lots of instructions for Kody to travel through the garden - for some levels we needed our partner for a helping hand! :)

Cancer Focus visited St. Columba's along with Genevieve the goat! Genevieve told us all about eating our five fruit and vegetables a day and how important it is to drink lots of water! Article 24 states 'every child has the right to the best possible health!'

Well done to our September Pupils of the Month! :)
