Today was ‘Green Day’ in St. Columba’s as part of our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
Everyone participated in lots of fun activities in their classrooms before joining together for a ceili in the afternoon.
Congratulations to our boys’ and girls’ football teams who played today in the Cumann na mBunscol All County finals. Both teams put in great performances and qualified into the semifinals. Unfortunately both teams were beaten by the smallest of margins in the semifinals. We are very proud of you, as always.
Well done to our Year 4 children who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation today. Our sincere thank you to Fr McDermott for putting the children at ease during today’s ceremony and for his continued spiritual guidance. Thanks also to their teacher Mrs McGuckin and assistants Mrs Dowds and Mrs Quigg for preparing the children. Please keep our Year 4 pupils in your prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
As part of their World Around Us topic, 'What's the Weather?', Year 3 were investigating which materials were the most water proof and therefore would be the best option to use to make an umbrella.
The children participated in a ‘Garden Clean Up Day’ today organised by three very kind and helpful Grandparents. Hector, Gerard and Barney put the children to work and a great day was had by everyone! The garden area is looking much tidier and is now ready for some fun Spring activities. Thank you very much to the Grandparents for lending their time and services to St Columba’s.

The children from Mrs Maguire’s Year 6 class are learning about the Titanic. They had great fun today dressing up as passengers and looking at artefacts.
Congratulations to our Year 7 pupils who received the Sacrament of Confirmation today. Our sincere thanks to Fr Crowley and Fr McDermott who con-celebrated the ceremony and for all their spiritual guidance. Thanks also to the teachers: Miss McKiernan and Mrs Keenan for their preparation for today. Huge thanks to Miss Coyle and our school choir whose musical liturgy sounded sensational and added greatly to the occasion.
We hope all the boys and girls enjoy their special day with their families.
