Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
In recent years, the St. Columba’s community have generously supported the Christmas ‘Shoe Box Appeal’. This year you are invited to contribute and the items donated will be distributed to young children, teenagers and the elderly.
Road of Hope have appealed particularly for boxes for teenage boys (15+), teenage girls (15+) and the elderly. We have included ideas of suitable items to include.
The shoe box should be wrapped in Christmas paper and have a label attached to
indicate the age/gender for which the shoe box gift is intended. Also, if possible could a donation of £2 be given with each box to help cover the cost of transport.
Our shoe boxes will be collected on Tuesday 13th November.
Thank you in anticipation of your generous response to this appeal.
We started the week off with a shared staff meeting with the teachers from Kilrea Primary School to plan the year ahead. Miss McKiernan attended the Shared Education Conference on Tuesday. Year 1 carried out a community 'Litter Pick' with our friends from Kilrea Primary on Wednesday and Year 4/5 will officially launch the song that they composed together at the end of the Summer Term.
🔦🌟 We held a very successful 'Ditch the Dark Day' today in St. Columba’s. Johnny from Sustrans was highly impressed by the efforts made since his last visit to increase the number of children opting to walk all or part of their journey to school. He was also amazed at the efforts made by pupils and parents alike to wear their bright colours!🌟🔦
👭🎉 Today we celebrated our Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award. We were joined by Father Cargan, members of the Board of Governors and members of our P.T.A. Our special guest was Koulla Yiasouma, the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People. The whole school community took part in a spectacular assembly filled with music, song, humour and culture. Pupil groups were represented and a presentation by the Rights Respecting Ambassadors, Eco Committee, Anti-Bullying Ambassadors and School Council was warmly received by everyone!

Johnny from Sustrans visited last week to talk to our pupils about sustainable transport, particularly on our journeys to and from school. He also spoke about our upcoming 'Ditch the Dark' day, which will take place this Friday, 12th October. Please refer to the note sent home earlier this week for further details. 🛴🚲
