St. Columba's raised £1000 for Concern. Sarah Egan from Concern Worldwide came to talk to us, to help us to understand the struggle in Africa and how our money will go to help the poor people in Africa.
As part of our Shared Education along with Kilrea Primary School we finally released our salmon into the River Bann after looking after them for 6 weeks in our classroom

Year 6 pupils throughly enjoyed their visit to our local library today, a huge thank you to Anne and Jean for making our visit so informative!
Anti-Bullying Week was busy with 2 visits from the NSPCC for Year 5/6 and our fantastic balloon release. 'Together we are stronger'.
Year 5/6 were blown away by their day spent with Peter Waugh from Sentinus. They made paper windmills, solar powered structures and air filled rockets. A massive thank you to Peter for another fantastic workshop

We had our Halloween Spellathon today and we all did Ghoulishly Good!!!! Thank you so much for all your support!!!
During Maths week (15th - 23rd October) Year 5/6 were very busy learning about different types of angles. We had lots of fun finding different types of angles in our school environment .
We have had a busy week because it was also Coding Week. Year 5/6 visited the ICT suite and using the Scratch programme we created our own Rock Band!!!

Year 5/6 had a great time on their 'Bug Hunt' with the National Trust.

Celebrating Roald Dahl's 100th birthday in style!
Year 5/6 decide to study the famous BFG book by Roald Dahl. The poor BFG didn't get the opportunity to go to a fantastic school like St. Columba's and as a result his grammar is often somewhat muddled. As an ode to the BFG Year 5/6 decided to describe themselves in the BFG's idiosyncratic language, known as GOBBLEFUNK!
