We are so excited to begin a new school year at St.Columba’s! This year our teacher is Miss Rafferty and our classroom assistant is Miss McFlynn.  This page will keep you updated with our learning in Year 2 throughout the year.😊

❄️☃️ Fun in the Snow ☃️❄️

We welcomed wintery weather to St. Columba’s this week and what fun we had! 

🎨📱🔘 Digital Art and Design🔘📱🎨

We have been exploring shape and colour through Kandinsky’s concentric circles. We used watercolours to paint our own circles, then used crepe paper to layer circles of different sizes and finally, designed our own ‘dot’ ready to bring to life using the Quiver app. We had so much fun transforming 2D shapes into 3D! We also used Brush Redux to have a go at blending colours digitally. 

🐶 Dogs Trust 🐶

Thank you to Paula from the Dogs Trust for visiting us and teaching us all how to keep dogs happy and healthy during her visit. 

🎲3D Shape🎲

We have been busy exploring the properties of 3D shapes. We built towers, sorted the shapes according to different criteria and used our mystery bag to identify shapes by giving clues about their properties.

🔢 Maths Week 🔢

We celebrated Maths Week 2023 in style by taking part in fun, practical numeracy activities in the hall with our Year 7 buddies. 

🗣️ BBC Sounds Code Crackers🗣️

We have been using BBC Code Crackers to explore the world of coding through music, drama and dance! We have been using our listening skills to explore computer science, information technology and digital literacy. 

📱Code Week📱

We brushed up on our coding skills throughout the week by using Coding Safari and the Beebot App. We completed a range of exciting coding challenges and had lots of fun along the way!
