🚌💨 End of Year Trip 🚌💨

The boys and girls in Years 3 and 4 had a great time on their end of year trip to The Peoples Park and The Fun Factory in Ballymena.

The boys and girls in Year 3 have had fun enhancing their film and animation skills while retelling the story of ‘Tamara’ using the Adobe Spark app. Have a look at one of fantastic finished pieces. #digitalliteracy

🏃🏻‍♂️Daily Mile 10 Year Anniversary🏃🏼‍♀️
 

We joined in celebrating 10 years of ‘The Daily Mile’. We ran our mile in our school playground before completing some fun circuit exercises.

Year 3 have been exploring the topic ‘What’s the Weather?’. We made wind socks and had great fun testing them out!

☘️ St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations ☘️

 

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by coming to school dressed in green and participating in a range of fun activities.

💕International Women’s Day 💕

Year 3 celebrated International Women’s Day by listening to how many influential women in both the past and present day have changed the world. We shared our pictures and thoughts on all the special women who are inspirational in our lives.

Article 12: Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them. 
 

Article 13: Every child must be free to express their thoughts and

opinions. 

📚 World Book Day 📚

 

We celebrated World Book Day in style in St. Columba’s. Everyone came to school dressed in their pyjamas and brought their favourite bedtime story.

💭 ‘Growing Together’ 💭


To mark Children’s Mental Health Week, we read the story’ ‘The Big Bag of Worries’ and made our own worry monsters. Worry monsters are very useful creatures as they read your worries and munch them up so that you no longer carry them around with you. We discussed all the ways that we can help reduce our worries and that we should always speak to an adult about any worries that we have.

💻📱Safer Internet Day 📱💻

 

We celebrated Safer Internet Day in Year 3. This year’s theme is ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’. We carried out discussions in class on online gaming before recording our digital footprints.

🙏🏻Catholic Schools Week🙏🏻


The theme of this year’s Catholic Schools Week was ‘Live Life to the Full’. We explored our theme through a week long programme of events and activities.

❤️👵🏻Grandparent’s Day👴🏼 ❤️

 

Year 3 made beautiful flowers sharing reasons why they love their grandparents. We also recited a special poem to share with our grandparents near and far. We especially remember all our grandparents who have gone to heaven.

🎶 Making Music 🎶 

 

Year 3 are exploring an Into Film project on the recent Disney release, ‘Encanto’. As part of our exploration of rhythm, we made our own musical instruments from recyclable materials.

We enjoyed painting our version of ‘Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gogh.

The boys and girls in Year 3 were very grateful to receive some festive treats! 

🧦Odd Socks Day🧦
We celebrated ‘Odd Socks Day’ to mark the beginning of ‘Anti-Bullying Week’. #onekindword 

🌟Ditch the Dark Day🌟

Year 3 donned their brightest and lightest clothing on Ditch the Dark Day and made active journeys to and from school. In class, we discussed the need to wear bright and reflective clothing when we are out and about at this time of year, especially as mornings and evenings as they are much darker. 

 

🍂🍁Outdoor Classroom Day🍁🍂

The boys and girls in Year 3 took full advantage of all the wonderful colour in the natural environment within our outdoor learning area. We collected leaves and other items to use in our autumn artwork.

🌍 COP26 🌍

We have been discussing the importance of this year's climate change conference, COP 26, which is taking place from 31st October - 12th November. We have all pledged to do our bit to make a difference and wanted to help spread the word by designing some posters! #togetherforourplanet

Mrs Lavery visited our class to teach us some German words and phrases in celebration of European Languages Day on

Year 3 shared lots of wonderful notions of our perfect dreams before we recorded them in our 'dream jar', inspired by the BFG.

🦋🌼Wildflower Garden🌼🦋

 

The boys and girls in Year 3 enjoy admiring our beautiful wildflower garden.  We  spotted many butterflies paying a visit while we were there too!
