St. Columba's Visions and Values

Following a period of thorough consultation with pupils, parents, staff, and school governors, we are pleased to introduce our updated motto, vision, and mission statements.

St Columba’s is a Catholic school, serving as an extension of the Catholic home. It is within their homes that our pupils first encounter the Catholic way of life. At St Columba’s, one of our core aims is to nurture values and a lifestyle that reflect our shared faith and aspirations. Our staff strongly believe that the ethos of the school plays a vital role in each child’s positive development. We are committed to ensuring that our faith is woven throughout the curriculum and is evident in our pastoral care.

Overall, we prioritise safety, happiness, and learning, thus creating a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive.

The staff at St Columba’s are attentive and compassionate, responding to the unique needs and abilities of each pupil. We strive to:

  • Support your child in developing values, beliefs, and attitudes rooted in our Catholic faith
  • Recognise and cultivate your child’s individuality, talents, and potential
  • Deliver a broad and balanced education aligned with the Northern Ireland curriculum
  • Foster self-confidence, self-respect, and self-discipline in your child
  • Promote an understanding of each person’s role as a valued and active member of the community
  • Encourage respect for the immediate environment and a deeper awareness of the wider world and its resources
  • Instill a sense of community, tolerance, and respect for those of different religions, cultures, backgrounds, or nationalities
  • Develop your child’s curiosity, critical thinking, and ability to make informed decisions
  • Emphasise the importance of personal health and well-being
