Year 7 Liturgy of Light

5th Feb 2026
Jesus once said, “You are the light of the world. Your light must shine in the sight of all people, so that, seeing your good works; they may praise your Father in heaven”.

At Baptism parents receive light from the Paschal Candle as a sign of the faith that they are going to pass on to their children. It is also a sign of the love, help and support they are going to provide for their children as they become children of God.

During the Liturgy of Light this evening, Year 7 Confirmation candidates from St. Columba’s P.S., Crossroads P.S. and Carhill Integrated P.S. received the light from the Paschal Candle themselves. This is a sign that they are now taking on the responsibility of their own faith. Their parents and sponsors will continue to guide and support our young people as they journey together in faith.

Our sincere thanks to Fr. McDermott for celebrating this evening’s ceremony; to Miss Coyle and our Year 7s who contributed so beautifully to the musical liturgy and and to all those who participated in and attended this special mass. Thanks also to Miss McKiernan, Mrs McAleese and Mrs Smyth for all their work in preparing the children.
